Hidden Secrets of the Costa Blanca

One of the perks of being a Real Estate Photographer is that you get to meet people from all backgrounds with many diverse interests. This in turns open doors and allows you access to things the general public very seldom get a chance to see, the hidden secrets of the Costa Blanca. One such secret is an old Grape and Olive Press (L'Almassera) in the village of La Llosa de Camacho.

From the outside most people would not give it a second look and would have driven by having no idea what used to go on inside. The building itself has not been used or opened for public viewing for around 50 years. With the agreement of the local Mayor I was allowed to photograph the interior, the images of which was used in this years village Fiesta programme. As the door was unlocked I could not believe my luck, it was like going back in time, the premises were exactly the same as it was when it closed for for business.

There was very little natural light entering the interior, which also meant very little ventilation, which was a problem on one of the hottest days of the year. Unfortunately I was unable to chose the time of my visit, which meant I was on slow roast.

Special thanks to Ayuntamiento de Llosa de Camacho
